What is a jam?

➝ & why it´s so cool!

The Global Service Jam is a non-profit volunteer activity organised by an informal network of service design afficionados, who all share a common passion for growing the field of service design and customer experience. The Jam has a staff of none and a budget of nearly nothing.  

 

Why it´s a cool experience

The jam is a great occasion to meet new people, create ideas and work with an entire new mindset. During the jam participants are welcome to explore the design world with entire new eyes. Another value of the jam is to rediscover how playing and working can actually go together to stimulate people to look for new approaches and solutions that might be of help also for their daily life.

To not forget the most important factor, the jam participants, which are the basic explosive ingredients for a great experience. The level of diversity of backgrounds, expectations and skillets reached during a jam is something that is hard to find anywhere else.

COLLABORATION

Please do not come to the Jam with a team. Everyone will have some time to think and pitch an idea. Collaborate with new friends or peers you admire.

USE YOUR OWN TOOLS

Participants will use their own tools, including hardware, software, communications and stationery.

SHARE

One of the most valuable parts of the Jam is to be part of the online community. For the global communication amongst participants we use Twitter, among other platforms.

COMMITMENT

A jam is an amazing experience when all the participants commit to be part of it until the end. Abandoning the jam half-way has an impact on your jam team as well as on the rest of the crew.
